ANNOUNCEMENT: "My Soul of Gold" at Xia Gallery Cafe
My Soul of Gold: A Curatorial Debut Honoring Cambodian Heritage
This year marks the 50th anniversary of the end of the Vietnam War, a moment that profoundly shaped the Cambodian diaspora and Southeast Asian communities across the U.S. In reflection of this history and the resilience that followed, I’m honored to share my first curatorial exhibition: My Soul of Gold, opening April 11th at XIA Gallery & Cafe in Saint Paul.
Rooted in the beauty of Khmer heritage, this show is a personal offering—an exploration of memory, embodiment, and cultural resilience. The title is inspired by a 17th-century Cambodian love poem that speaks to cycles of time, impermanence, and a soulful, radiant kind of love that lives beyond form.
The exhibition brings together visual storytelling, sacred iconography, and intergenerational voices. I’m especially excited to feature Hao Taing’s photojournalism project Apsara Grannies, a stunning celebration of Cambodian elders adorned in traditional attire. Through these portraits and other curated works, My Soul of Gold invites viewers to reflect on what it means to carry heritage not just in objects, but in the body, in ritual, and in joy.
Join us for opening night on April 11, 2025, and witness how Cambodian memory continues to bloom across generations.
